When impoverished communities lack access to basic medical care, it is often necessary to bring the care to them. But when they live in remote outposts scattered along the largest river in the world, medical outreach becomes a challenge. Because of the inaccessibility, small cuts become fatal infections, children suffer preventable blindness, and life-saving sanitation and hygiene practices remain unlearned.
