Christian Molke will lead relief organizations focused on Africa.
ADRA Germany, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency, recently reported that ADRA Managing Director Christian Molke was elected as the new chairman of the registered volunteers’ alliance of relief organizations Together for Africa. Christian Molke’s election as Chairman of the Board took place at the General Meeting of the relief organization in June.
Together for Africa is an umbrella organization coordinating the efforts of over 20 charities focused on assisting the African continent, including ADRA Germany. Its mission is to improve the living conditions on the African continent.
“Europe is perceived as very prejudiced towards Africa, which is neither fair nor true,” said Molke after being informed of the results of the election. “Together for Africa has a very important role for the people in Germany.”
Molke explained that this alliance is making its best efforts to change that perception. “We are looking forward [to share] a balanced view of this great continent,” he said. “Here the volunteer activity reaches the core mission of ADRA Germany, and it is very clear to me that this task can be better achieved only [if we work] together with other organizations.”
Together for Africa
Together for Africa is a registered alliance of more than 20 relief organizations which, through campaigns, events, donations and educational work, draw attention to Africa’s current conditions and opportunities. All participating organizations, including ADRA Germany, Johanniter Accident Assistance, UNO Refugee Aid, and Islamic Relief Germany, are committed to improving living conditions in Africa.
ADRA Germany, based in Weiterstadt, near Darmstadt, is currently focusing most of its efforts on the famine in East Africa, reported the agency, which is part of ADRA International, the global humanitarian organization of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Specifically, ADRA Germany has been focused on managing nutritional projects in Southern Sudan, Kenya, and Ethiopia, among other initiatives on the continent.
ADRA International delivers relief and development assistance to individuals in more than 130 countries—regardless of their ethnicity, political affiliation, or religious association. The organization often partners with communities, organizations, and governments in development and relief initiatives.
