Three-day clinic presents opportunity for short-term medical volunteers
Adventist World Radio is issuing a worldwide call for 800 short-term medical missionaries to volunteer at a mega medical clinic in the Philippines in July, 2018.
All medical specialties are welcome, particularly general and pediatric surgeons, ENTs, urogynecologists, and dentists. Non-medical volunteers are also necessary and can also make a valuable contribution. The event will take place July 9 to 11 at the Palawan Coliseum in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines. Volunteers are responsible for their own airfare, hotel costs, and some meals, as well as a US$100 registration fee. The deadline to submit an application is June 15.
The LifeSource International Medical Clinic is being jointly organized by Adventist World Radio (AWR), Total Member Involvement (TMI), and physician Lela Lewis. Co-sponsoring organizations include the North Philippine Union, Palawan Adventist Mission, and other local entities.
Lewis co-founded Your Best Pathway to Health in 2014, with the goal of meeting the physical needs of under-served people by providing free mobile multi-specialty clinics. Since then, close to 30,000 people across the United States have received valuable healthcare in major urban centers. They have also been introduced to the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and the Church’s understanding of the connection between physical and mental healing and spiritual health.
“For the last few years, I have received requests from various countries to assist with international mobile clinics,” Lewis says. “This first international clinic in the Philippines will be a remarkable and ground-breaking event.” Lewis shares that several key elements came together quickly and remarkably, including a large venue, a quality and affordable hotel, hospital support, free vegetarian breakfasts, and medical supplies and equipment. “The power of God was clearly felt, and all involved praised His name for His mighty works,” Lewis concludes.
As Your Best Pathway to Health is a North American Division entity, this international outreach is being organized under the new name LifeSource International.
The Palawan clinic will operate during the day, and in the evening all patients will be invited to inspirational meetings with speaker Jason Morgan.
