[Editor’s Note: At the end of 2019, the World Health Organization [W.H.O] heard first reports of an unknown virus, with pneumonia like systems, in Wuhan, China. Since then, the Coronavirus, has infected more than 7,700 people in China and close to 70 worldwide. 170 people have died from the virus. The W.H.O. is set to meet on Thursday, January 30, to decide if the highly-contagious coronavirus can be classified as a global emergency.]
I appeal to you to pray across this globe for the ongoing health challenge primarily in the large city of Wuhan in Hubei Province in China as every attempt is made to contain and eradicate the Coronavirus. Several thousand people have contracted this very difficult virus and, sadly, a number have died. The government of China is doing an admirable job in trying to contain the outbreak. Our Seventh-day Adventist Churches and other churches in Wuhan have been asked not to have services in order to prevent the spread of the illness. There are a number of cases that have been identified in other parts of the world.
Precautions are being taken in many places to contain the spread of the virus. Please pray for government and health leaders in China who are conducting intense and huge efforts to end this critical health situation. Pray for the people of China as they protect themselves from the virus. Pray for our church leaders and members in China and their health as well as the church’s efforts to assist the situation through church members as a result of the Holy Spirit working in them through Total Member Involvement. Pray for assistance being contemplated by ADRA China and ADRA Asia. Pray for families who have already lost loved ones. Pray for God’s healing hand on those who have the Coronavirus in China and elsewhere. Pray for God’s redeeming power, as the Master Physician, to be exhibited everywhere.
What a blessing to lean completely on Christ as He guides us to our eternal hone where there will be no more health challenges. Until then, pray and work to help others as Christ would—-all through His great power.
