The reason for the meeting was the approaching Defender of the Fatherland Day, which turned out to be a good opportunity to tell everyone who attended the meeting about Jesus, the best Defender for anyone who needs help.
The event brought together more than 30 people who today have a special need for both material and moral support.
It was striking that there were an unusually large number of men among those present.
Let us remind you that all those invited to the meeting are wards of one of the Rostov volunteer groups, which for more than two years on Sundays has been providing free lunches for people in need at the suburban station of the Don capital. This group was joined last year by representatives of the Atmosphere Social and Leisure Center and members of the local Adventist Church.
The first two such events took place in December and January. During every meeting, people in need can pick out warm clothes, collected by volunteers and the church, to take home and listen to good songs over a cup of tea. This time, the special solemnity of the event was given by the play of the instrumental ensemble, which performed several pieces of music.
It was also pleasant that this time among the visitors there were those who also wanted to take part in the program. They were the grandchildren of one of the women who attended the meetings. They learned congratulatory poems for men, and with this they graced the beginning of the program. In addition, all those present sang together and congratulated the men, performing the famous song “We wish you happiness”!
A lot of good things were said about men on this day, and the role of a man as a protector in various spheres of life was especially emphasized. But everyone agreed that even strong men find themselves in difficult situations when they need help and protection. The songs smoothly passed from the image of a man to the personality of Jesus, the main Defender of anyone who needs help.
The spiritual devotional given by the pastor was devoted to the theme of life’s struggle and victory that is attainable with God.
It was also emphasized that God is ready to protect if asked in prayer. All attendees received postcards with the 90th Psalm, which they read to the accompaniment of the ensemble. The guests gladly agreed to be prayed for.
Finally, a call was made for those wishing to start Bible study.
In addition, delicious gifts awaited all the men, and many also took advantage of the charity haircut service, which was provided to them in honor of the holiday.
The next meeting is scheduled for March and will be dedicated to women, the beautiful half of humanity.
