Hi I’m Gary Krause and welcome to Mission 360.
We come to you from the beautiful city of Annapolis, Maryland in the United States. Here in the harborfront is a statue of the author Alex Haley, who explored his family’s history in the book “Roots.” Alex Haley traced his family history back to this port and to an African man who arrived aboard a slave ship and was sold as a slave not far from this spot.
His story includes important themes of family, history, and freedom. Today we’ll be looking at some of those same themes. We’ll learn more about religious freedom. We’ll look at the history of building bridges of understanding with east asian religions, and we’ll talk about a man who goes back to his roots in the Middle East. But first let’s visit an Adventist hospital in Nepal and meet a young doctor working there.
