TT he South Philippine Union Conference concluded its online revival and evangelism program on Saturday, November 15, with a partial baptismal report totaling 20,442 precious souls. This online initiative was called ‘40 Days Journey With God’ and was initiated by the church leadership with the objective to invite people to have a saving relationship with Jesus Christ and to inspire faith and confidence in God’s leading, in spite of the pandemic and the raging storms that have hit the country.
The ‘40 Days Journey With God’ was a treat of uplifting music and powerful messages from the Scripture. Presidents of Conferences and Missions each served as speakers for seven days for eight weeks with Pastor Roger Caderma, President of the SPUC, as the speaker during the last week of the program. The event started on October 6 and culminated on November 15, 2020. The last week alone yielded a baptism of 10,066 people; but, the entire forty days event garnered a baptism of more than twenty thousand souls. Since January, there has been a total number of almost sixty thousand baptisms in the SPUC.
This live online initiative was aired through multiple media platforms using Hope Channel’s cable tv and Facebook page and cross-posted on YouTube channel. “We praise God for these precious souls who accepted Jesus as their personal Savior. The curse of this pandemic was turned into a blessing as more people turned to listen to our program online,” Pastor Roger Caderma, SPUC President said.
With more and more people turning to social media to search for answers from the Word of God, it is high time to place the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the best position to reach seekers for truth.
